Importance of Blogging

Blogging has a lot to offer someone in the photography business.  It allows them to set themselves apart from the competition by letting potential clients to get to know them and their style before hiring them.  It is more personal than a website and is often updated more frequently.  New photos can be uploading regularly with little effort to keep thinks interesting for followers.

Three important recommendations I would make to help companies within the photography industry leverage the power of blogging are the following:

1)  Include personal information, stories, advice that will make your followers feel connected to you.  Getting your photos taken can be nerve racking for some and feeling comfortable with your photographer can make all the difference.

2)  Photos and video are important to include.  This should go without saying given the visual aspect of this industry but it's not just important to have photos but to keep updating them regularly keeps them coming back often.

3)  Engage your clients by asking questions, inviting feedback, taking polls, and or offering contests.

Newborn Photoshoot tips for photographers

Top Ten Photoshop Errors

A big part of any professional photographers job is editing.  Photoshop is the most popular editing program. It can do amazing things, it can also make for some entertaining mistakes.  Here are the top ten mistakes I have seen recently...

1)  No belly button!?!?

  

2)  Oops!

3)  Little layering issue

4)  Extra hand

5)  Just plain weird

6)  Not quite a mirror image!

7)  Can you spot something not quite right here??? 

8)  Not to date myself but this reminds me of the imaginary dog fad...imaginary purse though.

9)  That's quite the realistic TV...she's literally coming out of it!

10)  Really?  How do you miss that?

Welcome

My interest in photography began at the same time for me as motherhood. As I used my little point and shoot camera I'd desperately try to capture photos of my newborn but by the time my finger hit the button and the photo was taken...my son was already looking away. I convinced my husband we needed a better camera. It took some convincing...like a whole other child was born in the meantime but eventually I bought the Cannon Rebel. I was so excited to learn how to use it but manuals are not my friend. I needed someone to show me how to use it so I enrolled in a part time photography program. From there my interest grew and my new goal of becoming a photographer became a very exciting venture. Since that time I now am mom to 4 beautiful kids that double as amazing subjects!
